Avril Lavigne: Still Friends with Deryck Whibley

They filed for divorce after more than three years of marriage, but Avril Lavigne says she’s still close with ex-husband Deryck Whibley.

The “Complicated” songstress told Ryan Seacrest that though they’re not romantically involved, she and Whibley love working on music together.

“We still work together all the time.  He’s one of my best friends ... We’ve been friends for a really long time, and we always will be. We’re family and we have a connection.”

In related news, Avril says she enjoyed working with Simon Cowell as a guest judge on “American Idol” this season.  “I am actually really blown away by the talent of the majority of the contestants that I saw. It made it really hard to judge them. I was really impressed with Simon. … I didn’t think he was mean. I thought he was really smart.”
