Sylvester Stallone on 'The Expendables' Set: The Stunt That Went Too Far

How far was Sylvester Stallone willing to go to make the action look realistic on his new movie, 'The Expendables'? So far, in fact, that real blood was drawn after a stunt sent the veteran star/director to the hospital with a broken neck!

A brutal smackdown scene with former pro wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin on the Brazilian set of the movie resulted in a trip to the hospital for the 64-year-old star, captured in the documentary 'Inferno: The Making of The Expendables,' debuting on Epix on Friday, August 20.

Faced with a compromised spinal cord -- a disc pushing against it -- and the possibility of paralysis, Stallone chose to soldier through so he could complete his movie. Luckily, his surgery was a success – and he had wife Jennifer and their three children by his side.
